Facility 246 is a horizontal loading thermal vacuum test chamber used to simulate lunar vacuum environments. Electrical feedthroughs and liquid and gas penetrations are provided at locations on the rear section of the chamber.
Facility 246

Mode of Operation

Test items are loaded onto a 30" wide x 50" deep payload table that is capable of supporting 227 kg (500 lb). The table rolls out to improve payload accessibility. Access to the chamber is through a clean room that encloses the facility.
